Arsenal Yet To Make Offer For Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Southampton is still waiting for a bid from Arsenal for highly-rated midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

It was said that Oxlade-Chamberlain, now age 17, would be at the centre of a summer tug-of-war between Arsenal and Manchester United, who had both been monitoring his progress.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has been tipped to reignite his interest before the end of the summer, but Southampton insists that there is no offer on the table.

Southampton boss Negel Adkins said : "Alex is our player and we don't want to lose him,".

"We have not received any bids and until we do there is nothing to discuss. He will travel with us for our pre-season tour of Switzerland."

It's thought that Southampton will be happy to entertain an offer of around £10 million for Oxlade-Chamberlain, though that fee may represent somehwat of a gamble as the England Under-21 international has thus far only impressed at League One level.
